okay so i've been having a pretty intense allergy attack for the past couple of days and it has really thrown off my gym routine. do you think it's okay for me to work out while i'm still haveing bad allergy problems?

I would say if you can workout without too much discomfort then you should go for it. But that’s just me. I workout regardless of sickness, regardless of basically any situation. Just play it by ear and do as much as you can

is running 2-4 miles enough exercise for a day?

Yeah I would think so :) Running is really hard for me, so even running one mile seems like enough exercise - but maybe add some HIIT to it for a more intense fat burning workout

what exactly is circuit training?

It’s pairing cardio along with weight training - so you do typical weight training activities faster than normal THIS for example is a circuit or THIS I have more circuits posted in my workouts link on my page though (I usually post a new one every Monday and Wednesday)

Hi. I don't know how often you answer anons, but I thought I'd try. I've been doing so well on my healthy living plan (I don't like calling it a diet and exercise routine!) and haven't slipped up in over a month. But tonight for some reason, I just really want to have some ice cream or a bag of buttery popcorn or something. Anything. How detrimental could a splurge like that be to my progress (7.5 pounds in the past 4 weeks--WOO!)?

I answer anon’s all the time! :) Wow great progress dear congrats!! Okay I would say, if you REALLY want it then choose one option to indulge in (but only 1 serving of the ice-cream or maybe share the bag of popcorn with someone) if you just kinda feel like you want it, I would skip it. Just make sure skipping it doesn’t lead to a binge later on.

Awww, you're so pretty, and your dog is cute too. What breed is he?

Thanks you are so sweet! He’s a miniature teacup shih tzu (I like bite sized people and things and animals)

    what r u grades?

I usually get A’s and A- BUT last semester I got my first B- which made me really sad - I know, I’m a dork

2, what motivates you? 4, what's your fave exercise? 10, why did you start your healthy life style xx

    2. At first what motivated me was the fact that my grandma said I was fat, that really hurt, now what motivates me is the thought of how my body will look/the weight that I’ve already lost motivates me to keep going

    4. My favorite exercise is the elliptical or circuit training

    10. I started my healthy lifestyle again because my grandma called me fat in my bridesmaid dress for my sisters wedding (also seeing pictures of myself made me realize how out of hand I had become so I decided it was time to do something about it)

Hello I am the anon that asked the body fat question. Wow I am suprised by all the support. No I am not a troll, I'm a athletic guy trying to show his abs a little more by the end of the semester. I did the math and I gotta lose around 5 pounds of pure fat to get there which shouldn't be too hard since I got 2 months to do it. Thanks for the support and for the people that suggested I need psychologic help, sometimes in life jumping into conclusions can be bad. Many thanks. Ill be back :)

I guess no one knew anything about you, for losing pure fat I would say cut the carbs and eat a lot of protein and include some cardio along with circuits. Let me know how your progress goes! I am supporting you!

EDIT: Try HIIT too! I’ve heard that is very effective for fat loss

so many informative responses for that anon - anon are you reading these??

8% BODY FAT IS UNHEALTHY. YOU SHOULD NOT DROP BELOW 10%. IF YOU’RE DETERMINED TO DO THIS I HIGHLY SUGGEST SEEKING HELP AND DOING RESEARCH ABOUT THE NEGATIVE IMPACT IT CAN HAVE ON YOUR BODY!

    for you anon

The body fat depends on if the anon is male or female. Healthy body fat for women is generally considered somewhere between 14-20% (for athletes), or 21-24% for other active people. Men differ, with 6-13% for athletic builds and 14-17% for less active. There are tons of charts online, so a google search will give you a good idea of if the body fat % is healthy, or even possible.
